Jean-Michel Basquiat + Andy Warhol

I'm sure you've seen some of these paintings, but
these are even more amazing to me at this point in my life. The juxtaposition of high and lo art as well as the merging of pop culture and subcultural expression are fantastic. Not to mention the coolness and effortlessness embodied in all Basquiat's work.

The Noir Series: The Parcel Is Not Dead It Just Smells Funny.

Its official. I'm calling it finished on this series of cards I've been creating. So I present you the NOIR series in vivid digital Web Black. Expect to see them printed shortly and in your mailbox.

The Most Interesting Uninteresting Process.

Pencil to Paper. Paper to Screen. Its pretty
self explanatory and I'm sure it won't impress many, but I appreciate these hand skills. And enjoy the process myself. It always seems easier and more natural to make changes with a pencil. Above are some sketches of some pretty great letterers.

And Then The World Seemed So Small.

Australia Is Cool.

Jonathan Zawada is a master of illusion. Kind of
like a magician with the vanishing and the smoke
and the mirrors.

Future Idea.

Sometimes its hard to get up in the morning let
alone begin to conjure up thoughts. This is an ode
to those times of cyclical insanity. Thinking about
thinking is a common symptom of designers. Just stop
thinking already. Plus ambigrams are really cool.

Home Is Where The Heart Is.

Check out these little bastards that
Field Notes came up with. Regional
sketchbooks for all 50 states. Pretty
hip and cool. FYI these were made in
OakBrook Terrace, IL. Recognize real.

This Is My Life.

I kind of wish I made this because it is
so on point. But then again who needs sleep when
you have coffee.

Milton Glaser Makes Magic.

I'll Whoop Anybodies Ass In NBA Live...(Not Really)

Remember when you had nothing better to do than play
a little NBA Jam...these guys remember it so vividly.
My friends over in Beantown and beyond run a little line
called vitaminTHICK, and this is a piece we worked on.
Check out the blog. Its just fun...like it should be.

Some Things Are Still Made In America.

The Capital Collection is now out! It is a small
collection of goods made in the USA by Matix.
All pieces were made in America from the cotton used
in the denim to the rivets and t-shirts. We can't
forget the hard labor of the workers either.I have had the
pleasure to make a couple tee designs for the capsule. Take a look.

Klim Type Foundry

This is why type is so interesting. This a pretty
great piece Klim Type Foundry of New Zealand had made
to answer everyones question regarding their career
in type design.

Vinyl Never Died.

I've been meaning to find a copy of this somewhere
after seeing it at the flea market a few months ago but
haven't gotten around to it...but I did think it might
be nice to enrich a few lives. So here it is in full color.
Look at this thing...its an amazing thing. How can
a format so perfect proportionally become obsolete?

Robert Crumb is fantastic (Big Brother is good too). To further enrich yourself click the record.

Noisey Image.

These are kind of a preemptive strike on Thursday night.
This Thursday Sonic Youth, No Age, and Pavement are
playing the Hollywood bowl. They are all amazing bands
and their album art is just as fantastic. They know
whats up visually and their sounds are where you can
hear all the glory of modern technology (or not so modern
technology.) Analog one might call it.

WhiteLabelLimited | WLLM Clothing Launches!!

A friend of mine recently set off to create a label
and platform for artists to express themselves. It is
a documentation of what he is living and a celebration
of the artists within his community. I was lucky enough
to be a part of his vision. See for yourself.

Transcend, You Weirdo.

This guy is pretty amazing. Australia will
be taking over our minds soon, so be sure
that your mind is talking to your brain properly.
